Canada's new Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced his cabinet in preparation for the upcoming 2025 federal election, shuffling immigration ministers in the process.
 
Canada's new immigration minister is Rachel Bendayan, a Member of Parliament from Outremont, Quebec. She will serve as Canada's immigration minister, replacing previous immigration minister Marc Miller.
 
Who is Rachel Bendayan?
 
Minister Bendayan has held numerous positions in Canadian politics, including the country's previous position as Minister of Official Languages.
 
Additionally, Minister Bendayan previously served as Parliamentary Secretary to:
 
– Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance;
– The Minister of Tourism and the Minister of Finance jointly; and
– Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade.
 
New immigration policy under Prime Minister Mark Carney
 
With the change of government, Canada's immigration policy will now be implemented under the leadership of a new Prime Minister and Immigration Minister.
